Lake County Announces 2015 Construction Program
This year, the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will have $137 million in road projects under construction making for another busy construction season! While about $60 million of that is carried over from projects that were started last year, there will be about $77 million in new projects, which are expected to be awarded during the first six months of 2015. The plan includes 24 projects, 11 of which contain non-motorized travel improvements, such as bike paths, or adding bike friendly lanes. Learn More

National Work Zone Awareness Week
Last week, transportation agencies around the country celebrated National Work Zone Awareness Week. Each year as the weather warms up, work zones pop up along your daily commute. Accidents in construction zones are preventable if you slow down, pay attention and EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! Take a few minutes to learn about the LCDOT road projects planned for your area so you can plan your route accordingly, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going. Being prepared will give you time to put safety first while navigating our roadways throughout the construction season.

Join the Conversation: Submit Your Ideas to Improve Local Government in Illinois

Lake County recently submitted its ideas to the State task force charged with streamlining local governments, which included a list of costly mandates that could save Lake County more than $2 million annually and millions more in ongoing savings. Now, residents can submit their ideas on ways to consolidate, streamline or eliminate duplicative governmental bodies, school districts and taxing authorities and ideas on ways to replace, revise, or repeal unfunded mandates placed on local governments and school districts. Submit your comments on this website.
